Meijing Period Elephant Jardinieres

Categories: , Tags: , , ,

This pair of bronze jardinieres are from the Japaneese Meiji period (between October 23, 1868 and July 30, 1912), created by an artist known as Genryusai Seiya. They feature the faces of elephants with the rest of the structure being made out of many beautifully hand-crafted, ornamental elephants. These two pieces are completely unique and rich in history.

Note: One tusk of an elephant is currently being professionally repaired.
